The Spring AWIS GCH Career Development Event- Financial Planning Workshop
The Financial Planning Workshop sponsored by Northwestern Mutual and the Houston Area Translational Research Consortium occurred on March 25, 2014. Our two guest speakers, Bryce Burch and Kevin Kyle did an excellent job discussing financial planning with the audience.

Outstanding Women in Science Seminar Series: Dr. Naomi Halas
AWIS GCH honored Dr. Naomi Halas of Rice University as an outstanding woman in science on Tuesday, February 4th 6pm at the United Way. Everyone was thrilled to listen about her research during her presentation on “Optics at the Nanoscale”.

Career Development Workshop: Career Paths for a Ph.D.
On Wednesday, November 6, 2013, AWIS GCH hosted a discussion panel and networking event on “Career Paths for a Ph.D.”. We had a wonderful turnout, with over 60 women in science joining the discussion and asking great questions.

Volunteering at the YWCPA College and Career Fair
On Saturday, November 2, 2013, our dedicated volunteers represented AWIS GCH at the Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy (YWCPA) Super Saturday College and Career Fair!

Women Professionals Networking Mixer
Our first Houston-area Women Professionals Networking Mixer on Thursday, Sept. 5 was a HUGE success, with over 50 women attending. At the mixer, we introduced the new AWIS GCH officers for the 2013-2014 year and crafted some inspirational postcards for Girls on the Run.
